6x4 and 6x6 Conversion Options

Background

We have been doing 4x4’ing since we moved to Australia in 2005 and we had a 2004 Nissan Patril GU for years. In recent times after we upgraded to a caravan we have been thinking a bit on the options to manage long term travelling safely and of course legally. As part of that, considering the weights (GVM, GCM and Payload) is critical. Whilst my LandCruiser V8 has no issues, there is still not excessive amounts of payload available in the van or the car when loaded. As such, been thinking of options to consider if we were to make an upgrade into a 6x4 with lazy axle or a full time 6x6. As part of this, been doing a bit of research and hence this page was created. The intent here is to capture a bit of the information for future reference and gradually grow this out until I decide what to make of this.
