6x4 Modifications and customisations

Why modify?
Well, certainly a case against moddifying as it is expensive. However, in using this rig for long-distance and remote touring… you do need to set it up to both reflect how you like to tour around but also what makes it safe and risk free. For us, its all about the right level of comfort (not going too crazy…) but then also be prepared and able to handle most situations that one might come across out there. There’s always the real mechanical problem that happens that you can’t really prepare for or its just too excessive… but you should be able to at least address the risk in most all situations you happen to find yourself in.
As such, I’ve classed modifications and customizations separately, as modifications is more about the capability of the vehicle VS customizations being more around comfort, risk free tavel etc. and not really addressingt the capability of the vehicle itself.
Modifications to the vehicle
The following are the list of modifications that has been done to the vechicle:
| Customization | Description | Est. Price $AUD |
|---|---|---|
| Rapid Inflation Systems High Mount Alternator Kit | High Mount Alternator kit suitable for VDJ 76 78 79 Sreies Landcruisers. Need this to complement the 48v canopy system that. Not installed yet but coming… There was a company (APS) in the US that manufacture a dual alternator bracket for the 200 series that should fit the LC79 which I was considering but it would be 3-5x more expensive than the local option, so very expensive. | A$1070 |
